Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Arizona

recovering property after being scammed

I had an oral agreement with a friend to trade my boat for his corvette. My friend picked up the boat, and was to deliver the corvette within a week after repairs finished. After a month, my ''friend'' blew up the motor in the boat (he still hadn't paid for), and then admit that the corvette wasn't even his. I still have the title to the boat, and trailer, but don't know how to go about recovering it. I know I could just pick up MY boat, but how do I go about getting my motor replaced that HE blew up? Will my picking it up with out his knowledge affect my right to sue?

Re: recovering property after being scammed

You may legally take possession of your boat and trailer only if you can do so peacefully. You may not commit a crime in the process without penalty [such as trespass].

You will have to sue him for the value of the engine.
