derivative citizenship through father

well, we are concerned about the right my husband may have through the ''derivative citizenship'' because he was born in mexico but his dad was an un citizen, veteran on war, but unfortunately, he is dead now... considering that he was born in 1984, and we have all the paper work that proves who his ather was, is there a posibility that he might obtain derivative citizenship?

There is a possibility of derivative citizenship, but I would need to know more information first - what years his father lived in the US, and whether his mother and father were married, and whether his father had a relationship with him, including financial support.
