Legal Question in Immigration Law in Arizona
Marriage to Green card holder
I have legal status in US. Presently I have F1 visa which will expire in 1 years. I live with my girlfriend fro the past 5 years . She is a green card holder. My question is if I marry her (something that I would do anyway) how this may change my status in US. Can I avoid leaving the country after my F1 visa expires and waiting abroad for the 5-years period until I can apply for residency?

Re: Marriage to Green card holder
Your girlfriend should first apply for US citizenship so that you can marry her and get your permanent residence through her.
The wait time for the spouse of a green card holder to change status to permanent residence is quite long.
