Re: work permit

Dear Inquirer:

Work permits can be obtained after you file an application for adjustment of status. Generally, you can file your application for adjustment of status when you are in the US and have an immigrant visa immediately available to you, i.e. a petition filed with a current priorty date.

Whether you are eligible to file for adjustment of status and obtain a work permit depends on your age, your step-father's status and whether you entered the US with a visa initially.
