Is betterment an insurance company code?

I would need to hear the word used in context. Isthe insurance company saying that we made you betterbecause of our insured's negligence? I don'tthink it is any sort of code word. Insurance companiesdon't need to use code to deny claims.

Let us know a little more about what you are talking about.

Betterment on insurance claims

Without the context, I can't really be sure what you're asking about.

But I can tell you that I've brought a class action in Pennsyvlania to challenge the "betterment" practice of Allstate on auto repair claims.

What they do is, when repairing a vehicle or making an estimate to pay the damage under the insured's own collision/comprehensive coverage, if a part has to be replaced, and the part was used, say, tires well worn, they will deduct from the actual cost to replace the part, a percentage for "depreciation."

Not that you could actually go out an buy the replacement part at a discount used, but it's just a way of shaving costs and, in effect, increasing the insured's deductible. Let me know more of the details about your situation if you'd like me to comment.

The above does not constitute legal opinion and is offered for the purposes of discussion only. The law differs in every jurisdiction, andyou should not rely on any opinion except that of an attorney you have retained, who has a professional duty to advise you after being fullyinformed of all the pertinent facts and who is familiar with the applicable law.
