I live in AZ, I have full coverage on my jeep, i went out of town and mailed my payment late, it lapsed for 14 days total, in those days someone hit me and I ended up with the citation..My insurance says their grace period is only 8 days...could this be true and what happens to me since i amm a single mom with no money to pay the guy who hit me.

Re: car accident
Insurance companies must give you at least 7 days notice that your policy will cancel for non-payment of premium. Some now do this in their billing letter, not in a separate letter. If you do not pay your insurance, and it lapses, you have no insurance coverage.
