Insurance Beneficiary vs Wills
My husband and I were married 17 Aug 2006, he passed away unexpectedly on 18 Oct. My husband was divorced in 2006, he gave up everything except his car, and took on all the bills. In 2005 and 2006 he named me the beneficiary of his life insurance policies as well as his 401K plan. My father-in-law informed me that my husband had a Will that he signed in 2000 naming my father in law as the administrator of his estate. Since my husband signed the insurance policies after 2000, do I recieve the insurance to clear up all debts, or does my father in law.

Check to see if a divorce still revokes a will. Your husband may have died intestate.
