Legal Question in Insurance Law in Arizona
personal auto liability laws
I have had the same auto insurance company for several years. Acouple of years ago, my 19 year old son's roomate borrowed his truck, and was involved in a minor accident. The friend had no insurance, so my insurance covered the loss. I continued to pay my premiuns as usual. Last week, my son, who is now 21 was in a minor accident. No injuries, but some body work to 2 vehicles. I submitted a claim, and have been informed that he had been dropped from my policy and the accident was not covered. I thought it was necessary for an insurance company to have the policy owner sign a waiver disclosing that a dropped driver is no longer on the policy. This means that he has been driving for over a year with no coverage, while I thought he was covered under my policy. I have been paying premiums in the 8,000-10,000 range. In my business, I have to sign a wavier if an employee is no longer eligible for coverage. What do you think?

did they send you a "rider" in the mail?
The first thing you need to check is whether the ins. co. sent you some update in the mail(called a "rider"), which amends the policy insome fashion (here, by dropping coverage foryour son). Also, was there any change in theamount you were paying on your policy at oraround the time the ins. co. NOW says it "dropped" your son's coverage?
