Legal Question in Insurance Law in Arizona
SR22 Insurance in AZ
My friend co-signed for his now ex-girlfriend on an auto loan and she allowed the insurance to lapse for 3 months. He has repossessed the vehicle since he is also on the title, but is being required to get an SR22 and pay the high costs, even though he wasn't the original insured driver. He has kept his own insurance current on 2 other vehicles, so why is he liable for the SR22?

If he is now the legal owner, why not transfer title to his own name personally and insure it like any other person?
