Legal Question in Intellectual Property in Arizona

Buisness Idea Protection

I want to know what will protect me if I have a buisness idea. I want to pitch

some various ideas for buisness opportunities to some big time companies.

What protects me from theft or copying of my idea. Do they have to deal with

me? What will stop them from saying, ''No thanks,'' and then go ahead and

doing my idea without my help or compensation. I want my ideas to be mine.

What steps should I take to pitch an idea to a big company. Can I patent or

copywright my idea. Its not an object but a way of doing something. No real art

or object is involved. Its more of a buisness process. Can anything protect that

kind of idea? Any information on this would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Re: Buisness Idea Protection

A method of doing business can be patented. This type of patent is fairly new, but they are being allowed. Copyright would probably not provide much protection.

Big companies do not have to deal with you, and most will be unwilling to accept the risk. If you do get a meeting or presentation, a non-disclosure agreement will be necessary, and they will probably insist on one to protect them.

If I can be of any help, please let me know.
