Legal Question in Intellectual Property in Arizona

Non profit use of cartoon character.

We have a Jr. fishing club that is ''sponsored'' by an adult club that is a 501 c non profit. The logo the kids came up with incorporates a well known cartoon character. What are the legalities of the kids using this image as part of their logo?
