my employer has scheduled a mandatory one hour meeting for every wednesday which is my day off.he expects one to come and punch in for one hours pay. if one doesn't attend he wants to know why. I am a cook in a retirement facility. the meeting is for all employees; maintanence, care givers etc. and is mostly games and nonsense. can I be fired for not attending?

Thank you for the question. If you are an at-will employee, they absolutely can terminate you for not attending a mandatory meeting. The term "at will" means you do not have with the employer a contract of employment for a certain period of time and you can resign whenever you want and the employer can terminate you whenever it wants to.
