Legal Question in Employment Law in Arizona
i was hired last 01/09,we were given a portion of the sign-on bonus 30 days after($2000).the contract says we should work 18 mos. and that the remaining money will be given after a year(for a total og $5000).i already served 11 mos.with them and wanted to transfer to another company.Do i need to pay them right away?or can i pay them whenever i have the money?

Thank you for the question. Whether you can pay back the bonus at a later date or in portions is going to depend on whether your employer will agree to this. That is, unless there is something in the contract dealing with repayment of the bonus. If the company wants the money all at once and you do not have it, their only real remedy would be to go to court and obtain against you a judgment. Once they do that, they will try and garnish your bank account and your wages from your new job.
