i signed a contract saying i can't work at another salon within 15 miles of my old salon, can they really enforce this?

Thank you for the question. Non-competition agreements, if they meet certain criteria, are legal. The key issues are the geographic scope and the amount of time the non-competition clause will be in effect. In order to determine whether a particular clause is enforceable, we would have to know the amount of time it restricts your ability to work at another salon within the 15-mile radius.
