Legal Question in Employment Law in Arizona

Can they do this?

I was terminated due to the nature and date of my crimes. I have this in writing. They knew about everything prior to me being hired. I passed their background check. 6 months after starting I was fired out of the blue. I never had any problems. No customer comp[laints or behavioral issues

Re: Can they do this?

An employer can terminate an employer due to the nature of a past criminal offense. This is true even if the employer had advance knowledge of the issue. That is because, in an at-will employment state, an employer is free to terminate an employee for any reason, unless it is related to something like race, gender, national origin, religion, age, disability, etc. If the real reason they fired you was, e.g., your gender, you would have a claim under Title VII.
