Legal Question in Employment Law in Arizona
I work for "Circle K". On 10/22/09 my district manager told me that I was being written up and placed on probation for company theft. This theft supposedly occured at the Circle K accross the street from my home, not the store that I work at on Sunday 10/18/09. My purchase totaled $9.85 and I gave the clerk two five dollar bills. The district manager claims that when she reviewed video of my purchase I only paid five dollars total. I asked her than why did I get change back. My question is, Do I have any recourse if she fires me for refuseing to sign the write up which I feel in doing so, it is an admission of guilt for something that I am not guilty of ?

Thank you for the question. If you are an at-will employee, i.e., not employment contract, Circle K can terminate you for any reason or for no reason. As such, they can terminate you for refusing to sign the write-up. They can also terminate you for theft, even if you did not actually commit theft.
