work without pay

I was told today that on my day's off I must check on the neighborhood pool 2x a day on the weekend. According to management, I have to do this, but can't put this time in for pay. They also threatened that if I don't do this, that they will take the hours that I am scheduled to work at night on the weekend away.

I live in Arizona and am an hourly employee.

What are my employment rights?

Thank you for the inquiry. Your employer can, under threat of termination, require you to perform work on the weekend. They must, however, if you are a non-exempt employee, pay you for this time. If these additional hours will put you over 40 hours in a workweek and you are non-exempt, you are entitled to overtime for them.
