Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Arizona
My landlord brought over a new lease that he wants us to sign. It is backdated and makes some changes that I'm not comfortable with. I know I don't have to sign it and that if I don't he may make me move out and that is fine. The question is on part of the new lease it says "This is the entire agreement and superseeds all previous agreements oral or otherwise." So does that mean that the old lease is now void or am I still under obligation of the first lease:

You are right, you don't have to sign the new lease, and if you don't, he must honor your rights under the lease that you did sign. Clearly, he would not be bringing you a new lease to sign, if it were not to benefit him (he doesn't act for your benefit), so there is no reason/benefit to you to sign it, unless you demand the benefit. You are also correct, if you signed the new lease, it would supercede the old one and you would not be obligated under the old one at all.
The landlord cannot make you move out, just because you refuse to sign the new lease.
