Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Arizona

I am renting a house in Phoenix. About a week ago a woman stopped by claiming that the house is in foreclosure. She asked several questions about the house and about the amount I pay monthly. I asked the owners if the house is in foreclosure and they denied it. I do not have the woman's business card, so is there any other way to investigate whether the house is in foreclosure? What type of obligations to the home owners have to the tenants? I was told that the owners of the home can no longer charge rent if the home is in foreclosure, is that true?

If any documents have been filed with a court in furtherance of foreclosure you would be able to obtain them as public record. Property owners must keep tenants reasonably informed if something may affect their ability to continue to occupy the property, which clearly a foreclosure would. If they are already in receivership or the property is frozen or whatever, then I don't think they can continue to charge rent.

Best of luck to you!
