Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Arizona

back taxes

I live in Arizona and have received a summons by a process server stating that someone has a lien on my property for back taxes from 1st half of 2004....I just received this summons yesterday 03/15/09 and it was only filed on 03/06/09. I called the tax assessor and they stated that if I paid these by March 31st that the lien would be removed and everything would be fine, which I did today....but now the lawyer wants to charge me $1800.00 for attorney's fees....this is not an actual judgement only a summons....I am still liable for the attorney's fees?

Re: back taxes

You have not stated who the lawyer is, who the lawyer represents or the details of the complaint filed along with the summons. The County may have sold the claim for its taxes to another party, however, you should have received notice of the process. You have the right to redeem the property but you may be responsible for the costs of collection and attorney fees. More information is required.
