Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Arizona
Building Incomplete
It has been over 1 year since we moved into our new home. Several things are still incomplete i.e., central vac not installed, screen missing, foudation in garage is cracking, cracks in most all window casings upstairs and downstairs, raingutter hung wrong, foundation settling to the back of house. Hardly any attempt made by contractor to fix. We filed a complaint w/Registrar of Contractors. They are requesting Contractor to complete errors, we do not even want them at the house again. The contractor says we owe them around 18K. We agree we owe them some but not this amount. Do we have a case if we were to hire a lawyer to have our own choice of contractor fix things and have most of the entire amount contractor says we owe abolished since repairs are incomplete and house is settling so much?

Re: Building Incomplete
Yes get an attorney. $18,000 is an amount that a contractor will sue for and you will likely have to get one anyway. Make sure the attorney is experianced in construction litigation though; don't accept just any generalist.
