one owner of a jointly owned property can sue the other owner for partition, which in most cases results in a forced sale of the property, unless one owner can buy the interest of the other owner. You don't have to sign over your interest without being paid for that interest. A judge won't make you sign, but may order that the house be sold and the proceeds divided between the owners. You will avoid a lot of hassle and expense by getting a lawyer and negotiating an agreement with your partner.
