A leading question is where you ask the question in such a way as to try to get the answer you want. Such as, "You were standing on the corner of Vine and Main at 10 p.m. that night, weren't you?"

Closed-ended means you are just asking for a yes or no or one word or short phrase answer. Open-ended lets the answerer determine what to say, and their answer is likely to be in a longer, more narrative style.
