Legal Question in Traffic Law in Arizona

I was walking home from the bars after 12 o clock in Tempe Az. I crossed the street in the crosswalk while the blinking stop hand was flashing. I wasn't able to cross the street by the time the sign indicated do not cross.

Mind you that this wasn't a busy street. It was a side street that was a total of two lanes. I wasn't preventing anyone from moving but ended up getting a ticket. Basically, I got a ticket because I am smarter than that cross walk system and can see when it is safe to cross.

Is there anything I can say/do when I go to court to have this taken back?

You can go to court on the date of the ticket and try to fight it. I would because Tempe doesn't have a typical "Jay walking" statute, usually there has to be a vehicle that you were impeding. It sounds like the officer might have just wanted a reason to stop you to see what you were up to.
