re check from estate
My brother sent me a check for half of the amount that is owned to me. My dad had no will and he said he did not have to pay me anything. Well i found out he is only a signer on his account its not a joint account. On the back of the check he sent me it says negotiation of this check releases him from further monetarty obligations. if i sign this does that keep me from getting the rest of what is rightfully mine??

Do Not sign, this would be to your disadvantage and cause problems to claim other rightful inheritance.Try o find out how much was an the account when your father died and claim half of it, if there are no other heirs.
