Re: Conservatorship

Yes, they may. They may both serve as co-conservators of the person and estate, or one may be conservator of the person, and the other may be conservator of the estate. Terms would have to be worked out with respect to how they would come to decisions if there is a disagreement.

Re: Conservatorship

Yes, but it is unusual. Often one person will be named Conservator of the person in charge of health decisions, living, etc. and another person will be named Conservator of the estate (finances) but more commonly the same person is named for both duties.

Sometimes a person will sign a nomination for conservator for one person and forget about it and go ahead and sign another nomination for conservator and name another person. If the second nomination for conservator does not nullify the first one you actually have two people nominated to act as conservator.

In this case the court will have to sourt it out in a petition for conservatorship.

WARNING. Before you go to court to get named as conservator, be sure you want the job. It is a hard job with little pay and less appreciation. Especially in your case where there is a conflict between the named conservators. The likelihood is you will spend a lot of money and the court will name a disinterested third person to become conservator.
