If you are unable to have next of kin (ie. you, the son) make this determination, and keep the hospital from administering life support he doesn't want, then you should file a petition for appointment as Guardian with the probate division of the Superior Court. As guardian, you would have the legal authority to withdraw life support. You should have counsel to do this, however, there is a self service center at each of the court houses, which will give you forms and instructions on how to do this.
