Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Arizona
establishing rights after death of parent
my husban's mother just died in MN and we live in AZ..supposedly, his sister is executor of the will..how do we get a copy of the will and should we retain counsel in MN or in AZ where we live? my husband's sister does not want to speak to us and she is already giving away jewelry, furniture etc..years ago we were told the estate would be divided between my husband and his sister evenly...there is not only money, but also real estate, an extensive coin and also stamp collection and several other items of value that we want to make sure are distributed fairly...

Contact an attorney in MN as soon as possible.

Arizona will not be the site of the probate or settling of the estate. Contact an attorney in the state, and perhaps the county, where your mother-in-law lived at the time of death. Request, through the attorney, a copy of the will or trust, and follow the estate attorney's advice. Act now.
Good luck. Remember to plan your own estate better than what was done here. See an estate attorney. For more information see our blog at JenkinsLawCenter.blogspot.com
