Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Arizona

I don't know who the Executor is

My great Aunt passed away probably 1 1/2 years ago. A few months after her passing an attorney from the state of AZ (where she lived) contacted my father in Ohio. She told him that my aunt had named myself and my other cousins as the beneficiaries and verified our addresses and contact information with my father. We have not heard anything since. How can I look in to this if I do not know who called my father?

If you know the county where she lived in AZ, using the internet, you can search for the county probate court and see if they have court records on line. You can search for your aunt's name and read all the pleadings filed.

Re: I don't know who the Executor is

An estate attorney can probably locate the information. Contrary to what another attorney told you, pleadings cannot be read by the public online, but an index of papers filed is available. Also, the case may be in process through non-probate, as in a trust administration, or in a small estate procedure.

Contact an estate attorney. We offer free no obigation consultations and handle cases in all counties in Arizona. For more information see our blog at JenkinsLawCenter.blogspot.com

Do you still have the name and number of the attorney who contacted you? If so, call her as well as going to the court for information.
