Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Arizona
Our Grandmother died in may 09. We were under the impression (from her) she had a will and we would recieve something when she died. My mother was told by Grandma that she would recieve all of her jewely ( large amounts of diamonds). In the late 80's Our Grandfather died and she at that time told us she was worth around $250,000. She recieved my grandfathers rail road pension until her death as well.
She has since been living with a new man and her new "husband" (they never got married) claims all of her money is gone and she died with $1100. He also claims that all her jewelry has vanished and he can't find it. He is now hanging out at casinos in Arizona blowing money and hiring a maid to clean his house while claiming hes broke as well. He spent most of the day she died running around to different banks, nobody was in much of a mood to fugure out what he was up to.

There is action that you can take, but you will be required to undertake the costs, expenses and legal fees in doing so. You could open a probate case and seek appointment as the personal representative of the estate. You would then have authority to go after the new husband (sue him) for taking Grandma's assets. If he has sold everything or turned it into cash, it sounds like he is spending it fast, so you must act quickly. You need to find out what the facts are, and to do so, you need legal authority, and you get that by being appointed personal representative of the estate. If you want to try to do it yourself, without counsel, go to the Superior Court self service center, they have forms and instructions there.
