Original Durable Power of Attorney

What happens if you only have a copy of the durable power of attorney. Is this still legal and binding if it has not been revoked? Do certain institutions have to honor it? What can you do if they want the original and you can not get to it?

Obviously I cannot give you legal advice but I will say that generally, the an original executed(ie, with proper witnesses) will be required. certainly it will be up to whomever you are presenting the document to. Obviously the conern is abuse of that power and to ensure it does not happen.

It depends on the language of the document. Some powers of attorney will specify that a copy can be used.
