siezed property

My brother who lived alone died at his home, police officers and emt were called and he was taken to a local hospital and pronounced DOA. The police searched his home, confiscated several items then locked the house and will not give me the keys. What are my options.

Re: siezed property

See an attorney. Go to probate court and try to get yourself appointed Personal Representative. Once you are appointed PR, you will have the legal authority to act on behalf of your brother's estate.

I agree with the previous answer. However, knowing nothing about the assets of the estate, it may not be necessary to have a probate case. It may be with certain affidavits you could establish your authority to act. Did your brother have a will? If not, his heirs at law have rights to his property.
