Updating A Will After A Death

Mu husband recently died and now I have been informed that it costs hundreds of dollars to update my Will. Is there a way I can do it myself and where do I go to file it?

Re: Updating A Will After A Death

Your will may or may not need to be updated. We cannot tell, since we have insufficient facts and do not have the will in front of us.

Estate planning involves an expense. You can do it yourself, but many people goof it up, and cause expensive and troublesome problems for their family and estate. You should also have a financial power of attorney, health care power of attorney, personal medical directive, and may want to avoid probate with a beneficiary deed or other planning. This may cost $500 to $700 total, but would be well spent.

The fee will be mostly tax deductible.

Remember, some people feel doctors are not needed. After all, anyone can go to the health food store or check out Web MD.
