Does AZ Risk Management settle?

Hi there. I read the arizona revised statutes, but didn't see anything that would answer my question. Does Arizona Risk Management settle cases that are not closed? I broke a bone a long time ago, and my case is not closed, since I am getting treatment. If I ask for them to settle, would they? Or do they not settle. Do they just treat until the case is closed? Thanks.

Re: Does AZ Risk Management settle?

I assume you are referring to the State of Arizona, Department of Administration, Risk Management Division (and thus you are a State employee.) The state is like any other self-insured employer. They administer their claims according to what they believe to be best for the State (and sometimes they even think about the employee.) However, if there is no dispute about anything in your case, there is nothing to settle! In Arizona, you do not automatically get a "settlement" just because you are injured, even if it's obviously a permanent injury. There are many possible scenarios, and if you call my office for a consultation, I'll try to determine which one applies to you.
