Legal Question in Workers Comp in Arizona

contract drivers

my husband and i have a small trucking company. a driver that we issue a 1099, hurt himself at 5:30 in the morning didn't report any injury until the end of the day. he is reporting two different stories to the doctor and to us. are we entitled to pay workers' compensation even though he is resposible for his own taxes and medical insurance

I represent quite a few small employers like yourselves, so I'm fairly familiar with this situation. "Employee" for tax purposes is not defined the same as for workers' compensation. If you have workers' comp insurance, your carrier should provide you with free legal consultation.
