Legal Question in Workers Comp in Arizona

Paying Workmans Comp Out of State

I am going to moving to MI. I currently reside in AZ. My Company is going to continue to pay me by direct deposit to an AZ account as they pay taxes in AZ. I will be the only employee in MI. They are having an issue with Workmans Comp insurance. Can I deny it or could they continue to pay workmans comp for me out of AZ. They want to do what is legally correct.

I do not believe that 99.9% of workers should ever consider waiving workers' compensation. It really is not that hard for them to keep you covered. All carriers offer multi-state endorsements.

You do, however, have the right to waive being covered by workers' compensation. If you do so, then you lose the protection of no-fault coverage for work-related injuries. Your employer likewise loses the protection against being sued (by you) for negligence, if they or another employee causes an injury.
