concealing an asset
i forgot to list a cert. of dep (cd) with my bankruptcy filing, is this illegal ?

It is a crime to deliberately conceal an asset such as a CD. If you simply forgot about it, but now remember, you can amend the appropriate filing (your schedule of assets).
That is something you want to make sure you do BEFORE someone else discovers your mistake, so it is clear that you corrected it on your own, and not because you were "caught." Your attorney will probably also want to talk with the trustee about it, and help you keep the asset or as much of it as possible under the exemptions that apply to your case.
