Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Arkansas
Court case exemption
I want to know if it is ok to file for bankruptcy on the morning that you are to appear in federal court as a defendant in a civil lawsuit?

Re: Court case exemption
Sure, you can file any time. Just please have the courtesy to let the court and the plaintiff's counsel know that you are filing, provided that your lawyer is satisfied that no harm will result from telling them. Discuss this with both your bankruptcy lawyer and the lawyer representing you in the civil case.
