You're going to hate this response: everyone does because it sounds like legal drivel: IT DEPENDS.
On what it depends includes, but is not limited to, the chapter of the bankruptcy code under which you file and the levels of exemptions allowed under that particular chapter in your particular circumstances.
Find yourself a lawyer to help you with your bankruptcy. This is very important now, since the law governing bankruptcy has changed dramatically in the creditors' favor with the 2005 Bankruptcy Abuse Prevention Act. If you cannot afford a lawyer, most states have in place a system whereby legal help is available to those who cannot afford to access the legal system otherwise. Check with your state or county bar association to see what sort of help is available to you.
