Legal Question in Business Law in Arkansas
Employment agreement
10 months ago I signed an employment agreement letter which states if I leave within 1 year for any reason I must repay recruiting and relocation fees of $11,000.00
I am extremly unhappy and have found another job. Is there a way I can get out of this agreement? We are an ''at will''
company.

Re: Employment agreement
It depends on how the agreement is worded. If it is too one sided (in favor of the company) you might be able to get out of it. Taking the case to court might be more expensive than the $11,000.00 you have at issue. You might be better off going to your employer and say, "Look this is not working out, its nobody's fault. I would like to leave. What if I paid you a pro rata share of the money? (For example, if you worked there for 6 months offer to pay them half of the money.)
