Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Arkansas

Credit card collection

What can a credit card company do when you fail to pay? I am disabled and draw soc.security. I don't own anything but an old car and motorcycle. I have tried Debt Consolidation, got ripped off. The company went bankrupt. Lost 2 payments thru them, I got behind, got caught up thru a deal with this card company if I paid $150 for 3 months, it would catch me up. Well, I paid over the phone by a certain time they gave me. One day I called to make a payment, fine. I looked at my bill on the internet, they had taken out $150 the day before I had called to make a payment of $150. They didn't bother to tell me that, so $300 was taken out of my checking account. Needless to say I ended up with several balanced checks. I called them several times to have it credited back to my account, they kept telling me they would, but never did. So I quit paying. Now I get a letter from their attorneys they are sueing me for over$8000.00. They letter was not signed or anything. What can they do? I don't have the money to pay it. My soc.security doesn't go that far after doctor bills and medicine is bought.

You need to see an attorney right away. Contact your bar association. You may be entitled to free representation from legal services. But get help right away. This is a problem that could easily get out of hand.
