Re: When arrested in the state of Arkansas, & headed for a plea & arrnmt hearing

This question just arrived via E-Mail this date, therefore it may be too late. You asked the question 10-1-00 and this is now 10-31-00. An arrignment and a plea is held in open court. The constitution so provides. Your parents may, of course, be present. The real question is how do they find out when the arrignment is. I have found out that the Pulaski County Sheriff's Office is not the most cooperative group of people there is in this world. Your parents should call the Pulaski County Circuit Court Clerk, Criminal Divison. They should give your brothers name and what he is charged with, if they know. The clerk should be able to tell them the status of the case. In Pulaski County first appearances, including arrignments are usually held in Little Rock, Municipal Court. Since he was arrested four weeks ago the arrignment should have already been held. The circuit clerk should be able to tell you what is next in the way of court appearances.

I hope this is helpful to you. If you have any questions you may call upon me.

Thank you,

W. Gary Kennan
