Legal Question in Criminal Law in Arkansas

Arson

A friend of mine is being charged with arson on someone's car. The person who had their car set on fire said that they saw my friend do it. He was with his girlfriend and then went to his grandmother's house about the time this was supposed to be happening. He and that person have been having disagreements and busting out car windows and pulling guns on each other for the past several months. Some of the incidents have been reported to the police and some have not. My friend only has a record with the juvenile authorities for posession of a controlled substance(marajuana)and has pled not guilty. The person that is accusing him has told me that he thinks that his ex girlfrined (mother of his child) is the one that set his car on fire. what should my friend do and would it be helpful if he told them that the guy told me he thought his ex did it?
