Legal Question in Criminal Law in Arkansas

How do you get a no bill

In Arkansas a friend is currently on probation. He is currently living in Texas and just recently got pulled over by the police and they found a loaded weapon on him. I would like to know what, if anything at all, can he do to somehow get a NO Bill...What exactly is a NO Bill and what does it represent. This is the last hope I have for him. He is in his early 20's and has a very young daughter to take care of. Please if ou can send me any information AT ALL to help this situation I wold greatly appreciate it.

Thank you,

Re: How do you get a no bill

It is difficult to have cases no billed however it is not impossible.

A defendant has a right to present evidence before a grand jury to show that he is not guilty, however this is a double edged sword that locks the individual into testimony.

As for your question what is a no bill? Before a felony case can be brought before a court a panel of individuals from around the County evaluate evidence presented by the District Attorneys office.

They are seeking a True Bill which is an indictment.

A no bill means the grand jury could not find sufficient evidence for criminal charges to be brought.
