Legal Question in Family Law in Arkansas

Adoption after paternity testing

A recent paternity test rules out the man listed on the birth certificate as the child's biological father. Child support is paid but no bond exists. Both the mother, and the man on the birth certificate would like to end child support and end man's parential rights. Is there an easy quick way to do this since both parties agree?

Re: Adoption after paternity testing

Yup ... termination in this case is almost automatic UNLESS they were married and the Court found in a divorce action that the child was a "child of the marriage"

That having been said, if Dad is willing and someone else wants to adopt then there is no problem.
