Legal Question in Family Law in Arkansas

bigamy

I am legally married to a man who is legally married to another women in another state. He has

taken her 1st husband's last name as his own and married me with this false name. We added my last name and his supposed last name together upon

marrying. I haven't been able to get help here to

prosecute this man or to get an annullment from him. This has been on-going for a good year now. I

know he has serious mental problems (now), and the legal system will not allow me as his wife to get him the help needed. I am between a rock and what appears to be a large mountain. Can you help? Greatly appreciated!

Re: bigamy

I practice in Montana. Montana law allows you to seek a declaration of invalidity of marriage if you are the legal spouse in a bigamous marriage. You can check your state law on this issue by visiting the state government home page, probably following links related to "judiciary," and finding your code. Try searching for "prohibited marriage" or "invalid!" and see what you get. Otherwise, go to a county library to check the law on prohibited marriages and seeking a decree of invalidity.
