Legal Question in Family Law in Arkansas
child custody
my x-wife had my child after the divorce,I did not know the child was mine until she was 3 when her grandparents took custody of her and her 4 siblings from the mother for drug abuse and neglect. The mothers rights were stripped. After finding out I had a child I began to pay childsupport and visiting when possible. I travel with my job but now plan to settle in Tx to raise my daughter with my wife who also wants to adopt her. Now the problem is the birth mother keeps coming back into the picture claiming to have cleaned up and wants her kids back. We are afriad the grandparents will fall for the act again as they have many times in the past. We need to know what rights we have and how can we gain costody and do the grangparents have the right to say they want visitations every other weekend when we live in different states. And most important, can they just give this woman her kids back even though a judge tooks her rights away? We are very worried, the mother has a violent past and has even publicly said she wants her own mother and my wife dead for taking her kids. Please help us.

Re: child custody
You need a good family law attorney! In a complex case like this, there isn't much you can do successfully on your own.
Find an family law attorney in the county where the custody case giving the grandparents custody was held. That should be the court of continuing jurisdiction and where this matter will have to go back to court. After that, you need to sit down with the attorney and go over all of the details of this matter. Good luck!
