Legal Question in Family Law in Arkansas
Child Support
I was with this guy for 1 1/2 years we had a baby together,I left him and moved out of state 6 months ago and he has not helped financial. If I take him to court for child support will he have to pay back child support? If yes will it be from the time she was born or from the time I left him?

Re: Child Support
...you will need to establish paternity and proceed to Court for this paternity issue and child support asap...
Re: Child Support
It is not so easy as Richard indicated. You have been living in another state for 6 months, then the new state is what the Court calls "the home state of the child". You have to sue in your new state. However, it is likely that the new state cannot get jurisdiction over Dad unless Dad lived with you and child in the new state at some time.
You need to go to child support enforcement or to a private Attorney in your new state and file a Paternity/custody/child support case and have it transmitted to AR under a law called UIFSA. Then the AR Court will order the paternity test and order child support. The Court in your neew state will order custocy and will ratify the paternity and support order and you are off to the races. Most likely, you will just get CS bac to the date of filing, but that is up to the judge.
