Legal Question in Family Law in Arkansas

I was granted a divorce in May 2010. In my papers it states I will keep possession of my 2007 Grand Prix and my ex husband "shall pay to wife the sum of $11,145.00 to be paid in the amount of $275.00 per month on or before the 25th day of each month to be applied for said automobile payment."

My question is: If I traded this vehicle for another vehicle is my ex husband still responsible for paying off this debt? He made one payment and stopped making them when he found out I traded it.

That would depend on the intent of the parties and a judges interpretation of that intent. My initial reaction is it appears the intent was to have the spouse pay for your vehicle- any vehicle- up to $11,145. I suspect a reasonable mind might argue the apposite. You should definately talk to your divorce lawyer.
