Legal Question in Intellectual Property in Arkansas

vintage photographs

I want to use old photos found at antique stores and make new items to sell. Are there legal ramifications in this? Copyright laws for such things when the owner of the picture or subject matter is probably deceased?

Re: vintage photographs

You are asking for trouble (willful infringement) if any copyright owner actually surfaces, but the likelihood of that occurring is rather remote unless you manage to get something into mass-market channels. Incidental sales at craft fairs and such will not likely gain enough attention or market penetration to alert a copyright owner that there is infringement....
